How I'm Starting the Year with Growth, Accountability, and YOU!

Updated: Jan 25

What if this year was the one where you finally became the person you’ve always dreamed of being?

For me, the start of the year is a time to renew my commitment to myself to inspire people to speak their truth. My grounding vision for the year is Accountability, Growth, and Community. I’m striving to hold myself accountable to be the best version of myself by growing spiritually, improving my physical health, and building community.

It makes me smile knowing that everything that I am today would have made that little girl scribbling poems in her mint green journal so proud. I love that poetry has the power to start conversations, create change, and make people feel more seen.

And that brings me to some exciting news: I’m officially booking performances for Black History Month, Women's History Month, National Poetry Month! Whether you’re looking to highlight the power of storytelling during a community event, host a poetry workshop, or feature spoken word at your organization, I’d love to be part of your vision virtually or in person.

As a poet, I am passionate about using my voice to illuminate stories that often go untold and to spark the kind of dialogue that inspires change. From my time as the Youth Poet Laureate of Philadelphia to the release of my spoken word album Roundtrip, my journey has been about celebrating resilience, justice, and creativity.

I want to keep that momentum going, and I hope to partner with YOU to make it happen.

If you’re interested in working together, please reach out via email at cydtalks@gmail.com. Let’s make something unforgettable together this year.

Thank you for walking this journey with me, for believing in the power of poetry, and for supporting my work. Here’s to a new year filled with community, growth, and accountability!

With love and gratitude,

Cydney

P.S. If you haven’t already, check out Daydreaming, my debut poetry book, and Roundtrip, my spoken word album—they’re a great way to kick off your year with a little inspiration. 😊

P.P.S. I’m working on growing my YouTube channel to 100 subscribers this year! I’d love your support—subscribe here to join me on this journey and enjoy inspiring poetry, storytelling, and community-centered content. For February and March, I'll be highlighting 8 Black female activities during the civil rights era. Every subscriber makes a difference. I’m currently at 54, and we’re just getting started!
